Art Basel Miami Project 2012

For this project at the BASS Museum in Collins Park, Miami Beach, FL we were asked to excavate a hole approximately 36’ x 36’wide and 3’ deep with three steps of 8” down to the deepest level. Each level was framed with 2”x8” pressure treated wood with a French drain in the middle of the lowest level. Soil was compressed using a soil compactor to create even flat surface for each of the different levels. Several Irrigation lines had to be cap off or re-routed. We hauled away approximately 59 yards of soil from this project. After the Art Basel exhibition we are to remove the wood frame, back fill soil, reconnect irrigation line(s) and re-sod. The exhibit was created by Mexican artist Jose Davila.
